Souls from the world of chaos

Reading a slightly old blog by Michael Totten I was reminded of a certain Rav Kook idea. Michael Tottenwrote about the motivation for wikileaks being to watch the world burn, without caring about the consequences:

Assange doesn’t care. He’s a man who likes to watch the world burn and said as much on his blog: “[C]ast blessings on the profits and prophets of truth, on the liberators and martyrs of truth, on the Voltaires, Galileos, and Principias of truth, on the Gutenburgs, Marconis and Internets of truth, on those serial killers of delusion, those brutal, driven and obsessed miners of reality, smashing, smashing, smashing every rotten edifice until all is ruins and the seeds of the new.”

This strikes me as very similar to this piece by Rav Kook (I apologize for the rough translation):

The great intellectuals want an order of goodness and beauty, Material and great, that has no correspondence to reality, and so they ruin that which is built by the standard of the world. The great know how to rebuild the destroyed world, but the bad, that the call of idealism of the highest order touched them only a fleeting touch, they just destroy and ruin, and their (souls) are rooted in the sphere of chaos at its lowest level.

The souls of chaos are higher the the souls of Tikkun (fixing). They are so great, that they demand much of reality, what their (keilim) casings can not hold. They search for a great light, and all that is limited, measured and available, they can't bear.

(my own translation to Zironim page 122)

My own understanding is that Rav Kook is talking of souls who can not compromise. Their yearning for higher ideals is so great, that they are unable to live in a world where that ideal can not exist. As such they choose to try and bring those ideals into existence, even though the resulting is the destruction of the world. They are souls who come from the sphere of chaos.

This might be giving the creator of Wikileaks Assange a bit too much credit. It is just as possible that we are dealing with a egomaniac.
